Florida island vacation rentals

Our 2 bedroom home, Island Breeze, is a few moments away from the beach, it's a short walk to your private beach access. It is just two blocks away from the 500 acre state park where you can walk for a couple of miles and not see a house. A short walk or ride on your own golf cart or bicycles takes you to several restaurants or one of the many other beaches on this island roughly one half by four and a half miles. Whether you kayak around Foster point, fish for snook in the mangroves, shell for sand dollars, build castles in the sand, or just enjoy the sunshine you will have a vacation to remember.

From Fort Meyers airport you take a shuttle to Pine Island where you catch a water taxi to the island. It's a beautiful 20 minute boat ride across Pine Island sound. You arrive at Barnacle Phil's dock where we are waiting to greet you and take you to the house. If you have a boat or are renting a boat we have a dock you can use. Kayaks are available. For getting around on the island, along with a golf cart we provide adult bikes and kids bicycles. We can also provide a Burley type child carrier. If you have kids you may want to bring a big wheel stroller to negotiate the beach sand.

For eating at home you can Fax Publix with your grocery list and they will have them bagged and ready to go when you arrive. There are two small convenience stores for small items and there is a buying service that can pick things up from the mainland. If you prefer to eat out, Barnacle Phils and the Mango Café provide food from Grouper sandwiches to black beans and rice at entre prices ranging from 5 to 20 dollars.

To maximize your time at the island we recommend you don't over schedule your activities. You will meet people and find activities you hadn't planned on. There is always something going on here and friendships arise over night. Kids especially will meet other children and want to socialize leaving you free to relax.

The water is warm and the sand is white. The entire island is basically a beach and you can walk for miles with nothing but sand under your feet, dolphins to your side, and pelicans flying overhead. The only other people here are your neighbors, the beaches are never crowded. Bring a good book and sunglasses.
