You begin your adventure riding down 6th St. in historic Palmetto underneath large oak trees with Spanish moss. Drive through the gated entrance and being your one-of-a-kind vacation. Facing due west on Hookers Bay, just 5 minutes by boat to Tampa Bay, the sunsets are unsurpassed and are a daily event. Sit under the banyon tree, sip a glass of wine or your favorite cocktail, and watch as the show begins. Every evening, thousands of birds fly by at the first hint of dusk. Great blue herons, spoonbill rosettes, sea gulls, cormorants, night herons, egrets, pelicans -- many stop by for a snack of baitfish just a few feet from where you are sitting.

All of this relaxing wearing you out? Just lay in the hammock where even in a good rain the banyon tree will keep the rain drops away. Right about now is the beginning of the perfect fishing time, usually signaled by a pair of dolphins, Mary Kay and Lola, who routinely cruise through, running fish out of the water, a true spectacle to watch. Hookers Bay is known as the best fishing between the Manatee River and Tampa Bay. Snook, redfish, trout, flounder, no boat required. The river is named Manatee for a reason. Your "front yard" is a legally protected manatee feeding area. Want a closer look? Wade out a short way into shallow water and watch from as close as a foot away. You can see them from shore as well as they come up for air.

Don't forget to ring the bell at the last glimpse of the setting sun. The home itself is as spectacular as the outdoors. Beautifully decorated with 3 bedrooms, a large living room with fireplace, a dining room that seats 12, a den with large screen t.v. The kitchen is truely gourmet where even a non cook will want to cook. All new appliances, granite countertops, 2 refrigerators, 2 sinks. Hardwood floors throughout. Make a cocktail at the wet bar or lounge or dine with friends on the screened in porch. Speakers let you play music inside and outside. The view from every window is breathtaking. You can fish, kayak, bike to the marina for lunch, go deep sea fishing. Take a 20 minute ride to Anna Maria Island. Visit the historic fishing village of Cortez. Rent a boat or hire a captain to take you to Egmont Key, Fort Desoto,Anna Maria or one of the many waterside restaurants. The hard part is deciding what to do next. Go out and explore, but then you'd have to drag yourself away from Hooker Bay, a tough thing to do. As cliche as it sounds, this home is truely a unique and special place.
