This uniquely built octagon house was an architectural project of an engineering student at the university and is sandwiched between the Gulf of Mexico (viewed from front two glass doors) and Alligator Bay (viewed from screened back porch). Our property is gulf to bay with access to the bay. You can sit on the front or back porch for breakfast and enjoy the view of the gulf (front) or the tree canopy and birds (back). Our front lot sits on the crest of the hill and you can also eat meals there at the cement picnic table by the ocean. There are three public beach access points with boardwalks across the dunes. The first is three blocks from our home (best for sunsets), the second is 1/2 mile down Alligator Drive, and the third is 1 mile and adjacent to the public boat ramp. Bald Point, a federal wildlife area and state park, is 3 miles east of our house and offers handicap trails, picnic areas, and a fishing pier. |

The back of our property is very private with large pines, live oaks, and a canal to Alligator Bay on the perimeter. It is easy to catch crabs off the dock for dinner. There is a public boat ramp to gain access to our dock and canal at the back of our property. The bay is a wonderful wildlife sanctuary that is enjoyed for sailing, kayaking, fishing, swimming and general boating/skiing. We have a canoe that you are free to take out to the bay. If you bring your own boat (less than 20 feet) you may tie off at the dock; bow lines can be requested. There is a marine map available for the area. The house is ideal for families or holidays and is fully equipped for cooking or entertaining. There is a full oven, microwave, smaller toaster oven, coffee maker, and blender. No dish washer - just the old fashioned one! There is a charcoal grill available for preparing larger meals upon request. There are two bedrooms on the first floor and a loft bedroom on the second floor. All rooms are furnished with queen size beds, linens, towels, and small toiletries. There is cable TV, VCR, and internet access if you bring your own laptop (no fees). I personally clean the home after your visit. Currently we are temporarily adding a cleaning fee to cover the deep cleaning to protect from the COVID-19 transmission. |

We have lots of wildlife on the point. The coast in front of our home (Alligator Drive) runs west for 8 miles of sandy beach to the Bald Point Preserve and east 3 miles to the tip of the Alligator Tail. Mullet and flounder are frequent in the surf. Shelling is best at low tide on the tail. In the bay, you will quite frequently see dolphin, especially in the early hours of the morning. There are brown pelicans and blue egrets that especially like to follow you fishing. There is an eagle that nests in our large pine in the backyard. |
